- Coracohumeral Ligament (CHL)
- Ligamentum Coracohumerale
General
- Strong intrinsic ligament supporting the glenohumeral joint complex
- Origin: base of the coracoid process of the scapula
- Runs latearlly across the glenohumeral joint capsule
- Creates a tunnel for the long head of biceps brachii
- Insertion: greater and lesser tubercles of the humerus, along transverse ligament of the bicipital groove
Functions
- Strengthens glenohumeral joint superiorly
- Limits excessive external rotation
- Limits inferior translation of humerus
Variant Anatomy
- Rarely hypoplastic or aplastic (5%)[2]
